National Service Scheme
The following one day programmes were conducted during the year 2007-08:
1) INTERNATIONAL PEACE DAY: It was celebrated on 21st September ,2007. The programme was started with yajna held under the brahmtva of Prof. Mahavir Agarwal and Dr.Satyadev Nigamalankar. A rally was oraganised in the university campus in the morning and a debate on this topic was held at 1:00 pm was held at seminar hall of Botany Department. The seminar was presided over by Dr. Roop kishore Shastri. Students of B.Sc. I year sung the song of national integration. The debate was convened by Dr. Navneet and Dr.L.P.Purohit.
2) NATOINAL SERVICE SCHEME FOUNDATION DAY: It was celebrated on 24th September ,2007. The programme was started with yajna held under the brahmtva of Prof. Ved Prakash Shatri. With the holy blessings and the teachings of Achrya ji the students pledged to work for the social cause. A debate on this topic was held at 1:00 pm at seminar hall of Botany Department. Prof.B.D.Joshi, Principal, Science College were the chief guest, Prof.D.K.Maheswai, Prof. Rajendra Agarwal took part in the discussion. The debate was convened by Dr. Navneet and Dr.L.P.Purohit.
3) BLOOD DONATION DAY: 1ST October ,2007 was celebrated as blood donation day. We determine the blood group of 107 students. The students showed special interest in it. The complete record was maintained. Prof.B.D.Joshi and Prof R.C.Dubey addressed the students about the importance of ABO blood groups and the transfusion of blood. The blood borne diseases were given the due importance the discussion.
4)CLEANING OPERATION: On the invitation of DR. R.K.S.Dagar, Head, Department of Physical Education, the student of NSS took part in removal of grass and weeds from the Dayanand Stadium on 6th of October,2007.
5) QUIZ COMPETETION: The quiz competition on the title "more crop per drop" took place at G. B. Pant University of Agriculture and Technology at Pantnagar. Mr. Sudhir Kumar Mishra , Mr. Rattan Kumar Sharma took part in the competition. They stood second and won the cash prize of RS 6000/- from the Vice Chancellor ,G.B.Pant University on 8th of October, 2007.
6)ROAD CONSTRUCTION PROGRAMME: On 14th of October, 2007 students took part in building roads at Kangri village by digging soil and filling the bullock cart. They put the soil at low lying areas and pits on the road. They reached the village by university bus.
7) CLEANING OF MOTI GHAT: On 28th of October ,2007 the students of unit 1 and unit 3 took part in cleaning Moti Ghat in front of Dayanand Dwar of Gurukul Kangri University on Upper Ganges Canal. The mud and the soil deposited on the stairs of the ghat was removed. The plants and the weeds on the way to the ghat were uprooted.
8) LITERACY PROGRAMME: It was launched in Kangri village on 18th of November ,2007. The student identified the illiterate persons and distributed copies and pencils. The students taught them the alphabets of Hindi.
9) PULSE POLIO PROGRAMME: On 25th nov,2007, Pulse Polio Rally was organized by NSS volunteer of GKV Haridwar. All the students were assembled at G.K.V and did flag march bearing a banner of pulse polio to Singh Dwar. Thereafter the students were divided into two groups; one team did the service at Singh Dwar and the adjoining area till evening while the other team was sent to Sitapur village Polio booth. A poster presentation was also organized at this occasion.
10) WORLD AIDS DAY: On 1st December ,2007 we celebrated the WORLD AIDS DAY . On this day by wearing the red ribbons and with play cards in their hands, the students visited all the departments of the university. Symptoms, prevention and control of this disease were discussed. In the afternoon a debate on this topic was held at Seminar Hall of Math Department. Dr. Panuli presided over the function.
