The first course in Mathematics was started in this institution in 1958 at  undergraduate level while the postgraduate classes were started in 1964. Later  on, in 1986, Vishwavidyalaya was allowed to offer Ph.D. program in the  department. Since its initial stage, the department is offering various reading  courses in Mathematics at different levels and thus doing the continuous efforts  of making the people aware of the recent as well as ancient knowledge of  Mathematics. The increasing demand of specialized persons in different research  and industrial establishments have led us to keep syllabi of different courses up  to their standard.
