About Math &
Statistics Department |
| The
first course in Mathematics was started in this institution
in 1958 at |
| undergraduate
level while the postgraduate classes were started in 1964. Later
|
| on,
in 1986, Vishwavidyalaya was allowed to offer Ph.D. program
in the |
| department.
Since its initial stage, the department is offering various
reading |
| courses
in Mathematics at different levels and thus doing the continuous
efforts |
| of
making the people aware of the recent as well as ancient knowledge
of |
| Mathematics.
The increasing demand of specialized persons in different research
|
| and
industrial establishments have led us to keep syllabi of different
courses up |
| to
their standard. However, this is felt that this progress should
not be at the |
| cost
of our ancient knowledge of mathematics. |
| |
| Vedic
Mathematics (PG and Research Level ) |
| In
Vedic Mathematics, the courses like Hindu Mathematics/Astronomy,
Vedic |
| Geometry,
and Study of Lilavati and Ganita Tilaka and their applications
etc. shall |
| be
introduced. It may be mentioned that research in these areas
is already going |
| on
in the department. |
| Curriculum
Development Committee of the U.G.C, has recommended to run the
|
| following
two courses related with Statistics |

B.A./
B.Sc. (General/Ancillary) course in Statistics. |
| |
B.A./
B.Sc. (Honors) course in Statistics. |
