 About Math & Statistics Department
The first course in Mathematics was started in this institution in 1958 at
undergraduate level while the postgraduate classes were started in 1964. Later
on, in 1986, Vishwavidyalaya was allowed to offer Ph.D. program in the
department. Since its initial stage, the department is offering various reading
courses in Mathematics at different levels and thus doing the continuous efforts
of making the people aware of the recent as well as ancient knowledge of
Mathematics. The increasing demand of specialized persons in different research
and industrial establishments have led us to keep syllabi of different courses up
to their standard. However, this is felt that this progress should not be at the
cost of our ancient knowledge of mathematics.

Vedic Mathematics (PG and Research Level )
In Vedic Mathematics, the courses like Hindu Mathematics/Astronomy, Vedic
Geometry, and Study of Lilavati and Ganita Tilaka and their applications etc. shall
be introduced. It may be mentioned that research in these areas is already going
 on in the department.
Curriculum Development Committee of the U.G.C, has recommended to run the
following two courses related with Statistics
   B.A./ B.Sc. (General/Ancillary) course in Statistics.
B.A./ B.Sc. (Honors) course in Statistics.
