Department of Chemistry, Gurukula Kangri Vishwavidyalaya, established in 1958 as an undergraduate teaching department and currently running as a P.G. and research department, has been the pioneer in starting new, job oriented and applied course "P.G.

Diploma in Commercial Methods of Chemical Analysis" in 1985 which was converted in to M.Sc. program (specialization in 'Commercial Methods of Chemical Analysis') in 1991-92. Ph.D. program was started in the same year.
